How to Add, Edit & Extract PDF Attachments

A PDF attachment is a separate file embedded inside a PDF — useful for bundling source data, spreadsheets, signed forms or supporting documents so everything travels in one file. SwiftPDFLab provides three dedicated standalone tools for attachments. All processing happens client-side in your browser, so your files are never uploaded.

Where Attachments Live in SwiftPDFLab

Attachments are handled by standalone SwiftPDFLab tools on the main site — they are not part of the unified SwiftPDFLab Editor at editor.swiftpdflab.com. Use the dedicated tools below to add, manage or extract embedded files.

Add Attachments

Open the Add Attachments tool, upload the host PDF, then attach one or more files to it. Each embedded file appears in the reader’s attachments panel, where recipients can open or save it. Download the combined PDF when done.

Edit or Manage Attachments

Open the Edit Attachments tool to review the files already embedded in a PDF, remove ones you no longer need, or update the set before redistributing the document.

Extract Attachments

Open the Extract Attachments tool to pull embedded files back out of a PDF and download them individually — handy when you receive a bundled document and need the underlying source files.

Pro Tip

Embedded files increase the PDF’s size, and not every viewer surfaces the attachments panel prominently. Tell recipients that supporting files are attached, and prefer widely supported formats so the embedded files open reliably on their side.
